Whether purposely-sunk as an artificial reef for scuba divers, or lost as the result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows to the past. Ships, airplanes and even cars are fascinating to explore and usually teem with aquatic life. Each wreck dive offers a chance for discovery, potentially unlocking a mystery or spying something others have missed. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course is popular because it offers rewarding adventures while observing responsible wreck diving practices.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- Required dive gear (owned or rented)
- Safety considerations for navigating and exploring wrecks.
- Surveying and mapping a wreck.
- Using penetration lines and reels to guide exploration.
- Techniques to avoid kicking up silt or disturbing the wreck and its inhabitants.
This course consists of four open water dives and a small amount of reading in advance.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Required dive gear (owned or rented)
- 2 Lights
- Slate
- Knife
- Reel
- SMB
- Travel or boat tickets are additional
We highly recommend the Enriched Air Specialty as well, which is only 199.00 if you take it concurrently with another course.
If you have a logged and signed off wreck dive by an instructor, this specialty can be only 3 dives.
Minimum age for this specialty is 15 years.
